about

Kicking off with a celebratory "Woo!", it's time to welcome back Wagga-via-Sydney's guitar-pop heart-throbs High-tails with their revved-up new single "All The Time".

The breakneck banger, incorporating a propulsive LinnDrum machine and blazing guitar shredding, is a dance song examining the emotional challenges of relationships. Says frontman Nicholas Griffith, "It’s me reminding myself to take a step back and readjust my perspective, in order to avoid getting sucked into old patterns."

"All The Time" is the first taste of High-tails' eagerly-awaited debut album "A Slight Hi" (an anagram of the band's name), which will be released by Stop Start Music (Ball Park Music, Cloud Nothings) on Friday 13th October.

The twelve-track record was produced by Chris Colonna, founder of triple j favourites Bumblebeez, who more recently has been releasing club cuts under a variety of aliases including Magic Pirate and Ccolo. After demo'ing at drummer Toby's mum's barn in Bega, Chris beamed himself in from his Braidwood base with a bunch of enthusiasm to track with the High-tails boys at studios on the Central Coast and in Sydney. Oh, and frontman Nick recorded some vocals in his bedroom, too!

On working with the band Chris says, "I really liked the friendship of the guys - there was 'country kids' in them all. For me, after working with a lot of single producers and artists, it was nice to work with an actual band where it was one for all and all for one." High-tails' Nick confirms, "Chris was a very laidback and enjoyable personality to have in the studio with us. His approach was much more stripped-back, and focused on the feeling of a take rather than what layers could be added later on. This pushed us to make immediate decisions and changes when things weren't working."

The forthcoming album is the first fresh material from High-tails since 2015's hot-wired singles "Information" and "My Heart". On the live front High-tails have notched up an enviable list of supports for Jamie T (UK), Oh Mercy, Northeast Party House and more. They've also rocked an array of festivals including The Blurst Of Times (Brisbane and Sydney), Lost Paradise (Glenworth Valley), Yours & Owls (Wollongong), King Street Crawl (Newtown), Rolling Stone Live Lodge (Newtown), Sounds Of The Suburbs (Cronulla) and others. An AU Review review said of the band's live show "their enthusiasm and energy [is] intoxicating".

_______________________________________________
I want to put up a fight
I want to put up a fight
Oh but ideally
I just don’t wanna get hurt

I want to put up a fight
I want to put up a fight
I’m missin' you nearly
I just don’t see what it’s worth

And mumma the deal is, you make it feel nice
Know that I wasted most of the night
Don’t just keep chasing me down the line
Lord I go vacant all of the time

I want to put up a fight
I want to put up a fight
Oh but I really
I just don’t wanna get burnt

I want to put up a fight
I want to put up a fight
I’m missin you nearly
I just don’t see what it’s worth

And when I’m not dreaming I’m waking in fright
So if that is you leaving will you leave on the light?
I’m searching for meaning
I need it tonight
Lord I stop breathing all of the time

Oh you know I’m searching for meaning
I need it tonight
Know that I wasted most of the night
Hopelessly chasing you down the line
Lord I go vacant all of the time
All of the time (x5)
