Sydney's guitar-pop heart-throbs High-tails are pumped to present to you their latest single "My Heart". Showcasing the band's increasingly sophisticated pop smarts, this one's a jam-packed jam with the lot - twanging twin guitars, heaps of handclaps, and even a doo-wop breakdown. It's also part-lovelorn singalong and part-travelogue, which namechecks the world's most elegant destinations - New York, Champs-Élysées, and um ... Hurlstone Park.

Frontman Nicholas Griffith explains "We started writing it when I came back from a holiday in Europe, and a lot of the lyrics reference the travel experiences I had. A girl I'd been staying with in Prague made me a paper crane before I left for France, and I was reading "The Catcher In The Rye" while on the road which inspired the line 'Nobody knows where the animals go to when New York is frozen'."

The song has just landed via Tone Deaf, and is a taste of High-tails' forthcoming debut album which the band have been busily writing and is on the way in 2016. It follows this year's smash "Information", which was a staple on triple j and public radio alike.

"Information" premiered on Gold Flake Paint [UK] who hailed it as a "loose-limbed guitar strut", while triple j's Zan Rowe raved "such a great song ... it builds and builds and builds!". Its film clip was a Rage Wild One Of The Week as well as a Channel [V] DISCO[V]ER video and J Play Clip Of The Week, and the song even ended up being remixed into a loping Manchester anthem by local lord Spod.

On the live front, High-tails have kept busy in 2015 - playing headline shows across the country as well as supports for Oh Mercy and Jamie T, plus slots at Sydney's inaugural King Street Crawl and the Rolling Stone Live Lodge. Check out the band's recent tour footage here. The boys are currently on the road undertaking a national run with reignited local party-rockers Philadelphia Grand Jury, before seeing out 2015 as part of the Lost Paradise Festival in Glenworth Valley on New Year's Eve.

lyrics

A lot of people rush to the city
Everyone gets stamped upon by latest events
and the coming of heroes and fathers to be
Everyone still speaks of them so positively
Then she turns to me like a head on a stick
Drafting an undertone and pulling me closer
Like a believer of ancient propaganda
You can win the war and it will end in a laugh

She said it’s my heart, my heart
It’s my heart so don’t you, don’t you …
Break my heart, my heart
It’s my heart so don’t you, don’t you …

I’ve seen a lot of you babe
I’ve seen so many people
I’ve seen the house that god made
The earth and the trees and the water that flows through
And nobody knows where the animals go to
When New York is frozen, New York is frozen
I caught my breath on Easter Sunday
Apples and bananas in an elegant wasteland

It’s my heart, my heart
It’s my heart so don’t you, don’t you …
Break my heart, my heart
It’s my heart so don’t you, don’t you …

My heart
My heart
My heart

My heart
My heart
My …

Roller-skating through Hurlstone Park
You blow a kiss and I can’t see in the dark
And I wanted to be there and taste the decay
Because I knew that I’d be leaving you the very next day
And it’s all under way down the Champs-Élysées
She made a paper crane and put it in my passport
And it’s all in a year

My heart
My heart
My heart

My heart
My heart
My …
